The educational system in Pakistan is multifaceted as there are two different systems from where the education starts. Firstly, there is a Matriculation system and then there is a Cambridge system. Secondly, there are various private and public sector institutes. The public sector institutes only offer Matriculation studies, whereas, the private sector is quite diverse. Private sector schools are of three different types; offering the Matriculation system, offering the Cambridge system and then there are certain schools that offer both systems and leaves the decision of selection on the students. Once the years of secondary school and higher secondary school are completed, the higher education which is completed at various universities is quite similar.
The Matriculation system includes an examination conducted by various educational boards at the end of 9th and 10th grades respectively. The students passing successfully out of these examinations are progressed to the next level. After the matriculation, there are Intermediate classes, similarly, an examination is conducted at the end of 11th and 12th grades. Once a student reaches the attainment level of passing out of 12 grades successfully, he/she is eligible for taking admission at various Universities. On the other end, the Cambridge system has 13 grades which include ordinary level studies and advanced level studies termed as O levels and A levels. An examination is conducted by the international educational body on an annual basis. These examinations are conducted at the end of 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th grades respectively. After the successful passing out of these 13 grades, the Cambridge students to are eligible for university programs. The starting levels may be different but the last stage of the process completion is the same.
