School education faces a shortage of funds, with only 149 new schools built in five years.

With the increase in enrollment, there is an urgent need to build new schools all over Punjab including Lahore. The number of schools has been reduced from 68 to only 48,000. Only 149 new schools were built in five years.

In 2019, only 7 new schools were built by the Department of School Education. In 2020, only 31 new schools were built. The department does not have the funds to build new schools.
